What is collected, and why

The Cents Check

When you complete the Cents Check you give me:

  • Your answers to the questions (life stage, concerns, dependants, and similar). These are general; the check never asks for income, balances or policy details.
  • Your name, email address and phone number.
  • Whether you would like a conversation, and whether you are curious about working in the financial industry.
  • Which consents you gave, the exact wording you saw, the time, and the technical details of the request (IP address and browser), which are kept as proof of consent.
  • If you arrived from a link with tracking codes (for example from Instagram), the campaign labels in that link.

I use this to send you your summary, to send myself a copy so I can prepare if we speak, and, only if you ticked the second box, to follow up with you by email, phone or text.

Booking

Bookings are handled by Cal.com, which collects your name, email and the note you write, and stores them under its own privacy policy. Please do not put financial details in the booking note.

Website analytics

This site uses privacy-respecting, aggregate analytics to see which pages are read. No advertising trackers, no cross-site profiles.

Consent

Every box starts unticked. Sending your summary requires the first box; follow-up contact requires the second, and it is optional. You can withdraw consent at any time by replying to any email from me with the word “stop”, or by asking me directly. Every commercial email from me carries an unsubscribe link and my mailing address.

Where it is kept, and for how long

Lead and consent records are stored in a database hosted by a cloud provider, encrypted in transit and at rest. Email is sent through a transactional email service. Some of these providers store data in the United States. I keep quiz records for as long as needed to respond to you and to evidence consent, and review them at least once a year; you can ask me to delete yours at any time.

Sharing

I do not sell or rent personal information. I share it only with the service providers named above, who process it on my instructions, and where the law requires. If we go on to work together in my licensed capacity, the information you give me then is handled under the additional rules that apply to insurance agents in Ontario.

Your rights

You can ask what I hold about you, ask for it to be corrected or deleted, and withdraw any consent. I will respond within thirty days. If you are not satisfied, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

Cookies

One small cookie remembers campaign labels from the link you arrived on, for thirty days, so I know which channel a conversation came from. Your browser’s session storage holds your quiz answers while you complete it, so a closed window does not lose them, and it is cleared when you finish.
